Our Space

A gathering place

Our Space

CFAD moved into the beautifully restored Lazarus Building, uniquely positioned between the Scioto Mile and Columbus Commons, in 2013. We’re located on Town Street and our entrance is off of the open-air galleria across the OSU Urban Arts Space. Floor-to-ceiling windows on Town Street provide great storefront visibility for rotating exhibits, which can be viewed from inside and outside. As the gateway for education, conversation and debate about the importance of equitable and quality design and its effect on our city’s architecture, density, urban infrastructure and planning, we selected an open, easily accessible centralized location with high pedestrian foot traffic to be our home.

The Lazarus Building was Columbus’ premiere department store for almost 100 years. Between its closure in 2004 and 2008, the building was beautifully restored. Today it is one of the largest office buildings Downtown with almost 700,000- square feet of space. Numerous state agencies, businesses, retail and restaurant tenents call it home; 2,000 plus employees work there.
