Once the fifth tallest building in the world, the LeVeque Tower stands at the heart of downtown Columbus. Opened on September 21, 1927, the building has served as an aerial lighthouse for pilots, an annex for the biggest hotel in America, an observation tower and as corporate headquarters for the American Insurance Union.
After many years, multiple renovations, a few owners and name changes, the LeVeque Tower is being revitalized for today’s marketplace. The iconic building is undergoing massive changes to both its interior – including the creation of new public spaces such an enhanced lobby, luxury apartments and a boutique hotel – and its exterior facade and streetscape.
Join us for an up close and personal look at the historic LeVeque Tower and learn about this much admired architectural gem in our city. Event is free and open to the public, however RSVP is requested to jiseler@aiacolumbus.org.
This event is presented by AIA Columbus, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects, in conjunction with Design Weeks 2014.
